Robert Morimanno passed away in October 2019, at the age of 51, from brain cancer. He loved life and was passionate about giving back to his community, whether it was volunteering on boards, teaching fitness classes at the YMCA and Goodlife clubs, coaching youth soccer with the Fredericton District Soccer Association, or teaching cross country skiing with the Wostawea club.
Robert built numerous life-long friendships, always making a point of putting others at ease and leaving them with a kind word and a smile. “Try to leave them smiling,” was his modus operandi (M.O.). To create a lasting memorial to Robert, family, friends, and organizations have donated to the Robert Morimanno Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Two $500 scholarships will be awarded each year, to one male and one female soccer player in their high school graduating year, attending one of the four local area high schools: École Sainte-Anne (ESA), Fredericton High School (FHS), Leo Hayes High School (LHHS) and Oromocto High School (OHS). Students must be in grade 12 and be accepted to a publicly funded post-secondary institution.
