Over the past few years, the region has experienced the retirement of a number of senior officials as age and injuries take them away from the game. As a club, we have done a phenomenal job over the years of training our players as youth referees and we continue to do so, these young players are great role models and examples for our recreation and youth divisions. It has been identified as a critical importance for both our club and region to have more qualified and available ADULT officials in the Fredericton area. Unless we take a proactive approach now to begin training replacements for our aging officials; in another 2-3 years, we may be in a position where we will not have referees that are old/trained enough to officiate higher level games. If you are looking for a meaningful way to contribute to both the club and sport, becoming a referee and officiating even just 1-2 games a month you will have a great impact on soccer in the Capital region.
